MAFP Presents Awards, Elects Officers

The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) presented awards and elected officers on April 14, 2011, during its Annual Meeting and Spring Refresher at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel in downtown St. Paul. 

2011 Award Winners:

Minnesota Family Physician of the Year – Anthony Lussenhop, MD, Alexandria Clinic, Alexandria, MN

President’s Award – Jeff Schiff, MD, MBA, Medical Director for Minnesota Health Care Programs at the Minnesota Department of Human Services, St. Paul, MN

Teacher of the Year – Jeremy Springer, MD, Program Director, University of Minnesota/Methodist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, St. Louis Park, MN

Resident of the Year – Sara Oberhelman, MD,
          Third-year resident, Mayo Family Medicine Residency
          Program

Researcher of the Year – Kolawole Okuyemi, MD, MPH, Director, Program in Health Disparities Research; Assistant Professor, University of Minnesota Medical School

The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians is a professional association of approximately 3,000 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students established to assist family physicians in providing quality medical care in Minnesota.  The MAFP is the largest specialty organization in Minnesota and is a state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, one of the largest national medical organizations in the United States, with more than 97,000 members.
