Student Membership
You are invited to join the specialty organization for family medicine,
the Minnesota/American Academy of Family Physicians.
The MAFP Is:
A statewide organization of 3,000 medical students, residents, and family
physicians devoted to continuing and comprehensive health care in the family and
community environment.
As A Member You:
- Are eligible for a scholarship to attend the
National Conference for family
medicine residents and medical students in Kansas City. The conference is an
opportunity to learn skills, network with peers, visit residency programs and
have fun.
- Receive automatic membership in the American Academy of Family
Physicians, the nation's largest specialty society.
- Have a voice in local, state, and national medical issues.
- Are eligible to participate in the Summer Research Externship, Residency
Recruitment Luau, A Day in the Life of a Family Practice Resident, as well as
take advantage of the many leadership opportunities in the Academy.
- Receive the American Family Physician, a highly-respected scientific journal. Every month you will receive articles on a variety of clinical subjects such as those identified on the attached flyer. Non-member subscription rate is $40.00.
- Receive the Minnesota Family Physician, the MAFP publication that provides
busy members easy-to-read current information on legislative issues and activities.
Student member dues are:
Compliments of the Minnesota AFP and your
- local AFP Chapter (if you are a U of M student in the Twin
Cities or Duluth).
- local FMIG organization (if you are a Mayo student).
