Financial Help/ Money Management Resources

Medical students are often concerned about the amount of debt they acquire during medical school. The MAFP aims to help students as they tackle financial planning. Education sessions on financial planning are often offered during the Residency Program Luau or during the Spring Refresher Education Conference.

Check out these resources:

The American Academy of Family Physicians provides information on debt management before, during and after medical school.  This site provides solid information and is a good place to start.

The Association of American Medical Colleges features money management geared toward medical students including calculators, tools to help make decisions about loan consolidations, links to student aid programs and numerous publications on financial planning.

The Minnesota Office of Rural Health and Primary Care Loan Forgiveness Programs offers a list of Minnesota programs for medical students, residents, physicians and other care providers.

The Minnesota Department of Health Office of Rural Health and Primary Care also has information on grants and loans.
