David Mersy, M.D. Medical Student Externship
The goal of the Externship Program is to stimulate interest in
family medicine and practice-based research. The program brings
medical students into family medicine settings to assist with clinical research for six to
eight weeks. Students receive a $2000 stipend; mentoring physicians receive
$500 to cover expenses.
Requests for Externship Projects go out to Minnesota medical students
in December. The application/request is due at the MAFP Foundation
office by end of February. Three Externship awards are selected by March 1,
and financial stipends distributed by the first week in May.
