The control and direction of the MAFP belongs to the House of Delegates. Affirmative action from the House of Delegates is needed for:

• Changes in dues
  
• Special or additional assessments
  
• Amendments to the Bylaws
  
• Election of officers
  
• The House of Delegates also has the privilege and obligation to review the  actions of the Board of Directors and to indicate approval or disapproval of those actions to serve as a guide for actions of the Board.

To exercise this control, the House of Delegates meets annually on the day before the Spring Refresher.

The House of Delegates is composed of four delegates from each local chapter plus one delegate for every fifty active members in each component chapter. The delegates are elected by their local chapters for a three-year term and may succeed themselves. Each delegate is entitled to a single vote.

All members are invited to attend the annual business session to deliberate on resolutions, hear updates from AAFP leadership and elect officers.  A breakfast buffet and socializing with your fellow physicians begins at 7:30 am.  The House convenes at 9:00 am with business throughout the entire day, concluding around 5:00 pm.

Resolutions are due to the Speaker of the House approximately six weeks before the meeting to be included in the House of Delegates manual.

Due date for upcoming HOD: 
March 20, 2013

Proposed amendments to the Bylaws must be submitted to the Executive Vice President 60 days prior to the meeting for consideration at the House of Delegates.
