Family Physician of the Year Award
This award is presented annually to a family physician who represents
the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring,
comprehensive medical service, community involvement and service as a role
model.
Beginning in October, the MAFP seeks nominations from the public for
this award. Nominations may also come from colleagues and administrators.
Nominees must be MAFP members.
Nominations must be in writing. Nominators should describe the candidate’s
outstanding personal and professional qualities, as well as cite examples of the
nominee’s involvement in his/her community.

Nomination deadline: Specific date to be determined.
Typically early January.
Once the nomination deadline has passed, additional letters of
support for each of the nominees will be accepted for two weeks. However, no new nominations will be accepted beyond
the initial deadline.

All letters are carefully considered by members of a task force who will
select up to six finalists. The MAFP Board of Directors will choose one of the
finalists to receive the Family Physician of the Year Award.
The award will be presented during the MAFP Annual Meeting/Spring
Refresher in April 2011.
