Invitation to Participate in Asthma Outreach Program
The American Lung Association offers primary
care clinicians the chance to take part in an Asthma Outreach
Program.
The purpose of this education program is to
improve asthma diagnosis and management by primary care clinicians
and nurses through the following objectives:
1.
Recognize the importance of diagnosing asthma early and
accurately.
2.
Discuss the concept of asthma control at every follow up
visit.
3.
Utilize written asthma action plan that includes daily
medication management to recognize and respond to worsening asthma.
4.
Discuss the importance of allergen identification.
5.
Counsel patients about environmental trigger control methods.
6.
Teach patients appropriate techniques for medication delivery
Criterion for selection includes offices with a
relatively large number of clinicians and clinician enthusiasm for
the education program and asthma quality improvement.
