2012 Research Forum Call for Abstracts
(Abstracts Due January 27)
The 2012 Research Forum will be held on March 31st at HealthPartners
Bloomington.
Topics
Abstracts should contain original research and be relevant to family
medicine. All categories of research will be considered, including
practice-based, community-oriented and participatory projects, and
descriptive studies. Quality Improvement projects, clinical case
presentations, and literature reviews are acceptable if they
generate original conclusions. Projects in progress are welcome!
Presenter Qualifications
Abstracts can be submitted by medical students, residents,
practicing physicians, academic physicians, and researchers.
Posters
Research can be presented as a poster rather than as a live
presentation. Poster submissions do require an abstract. See below
for details on submitting an abstract.
Poster Guidelines
Size: Our poster boards can accommodate a poster up to 91”
wide x 45” high. Please list the dimensions of your poster on the
abstract submission form.
Tack pins will be provided to attach the poster. The poster
boards can also accommodate posters with Velcro (provided by the
researcher). Please consider the physical weight of your poster in
relation to the attachment options.
Poster Session: There will be dedicated time for Research
Forum attendees to view the posters.
Set-up: Please have your poster attached by 8:00 am (set up
will be from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m) on the day of the Research Forum.
Submitting an Abstract
To submit an abstract, save
this form to your computer, complete, and email as an
attachment to
lregehr@mafp.org.
Abstracts can be submitted using the online form. The abstract
requires the following:
Title of research
Name(s), designation(s) (medical student, resident, physician,
researcher), and contact information for presenter(s)
Structured one-page (limited to 500 words) abstract which
includes objective (or hypothesis), population, methods, main
results, and conclusions.
Indicate IRB approval or exemption, if applicable, or compliance
with HIPAA regulations, mentorship (if any), and funding sources
Deadline
Abstracts are due by Friday, January 27, 2012.
You will be notified by Monday, February 13, 2012 if
your abstract has been accepted for presentation. Accepted
abstracts and PowerPoint slides from your presentation will be
published on the MAFP website and in the Forum proceedings. Written
feedback will be provided to presenters.
Presentation
Each presenter will be given 15 minutes, followed by a 5 minute
question and answer period. Please email PowerPoint slides
to lregehr@mafp.org by Monday, March 26, 2012 or bring
the presentation to the Forum on a usb drive. A schedule will be
sent to presenters two weeks before the Forum.

Registration
Please note that registration is not discounted for presenters. All
presenters must register for the Research Forum. Registration will
be available in early 2012. Medical students and residents receive
complimentary registration.
