2010 Academic Round Table
On November 16, Family Medicine Physicians,
residents, and medical students gathered to focus on the challenges
and successes in mentoring medical students. There is an increasing
need for primary care community mentorship and preceptors for
medical students. Discussion centered on what medical schools are
doing now to recruit preceptors and mentors and how they choose
where to place medical students for clinical experiences.
The opening presenter was Dr. Kathleen Brooks,
Director of the Rural Physician Associate Program and an Assistant
Professor at the U of M Department of Family Medicine and Community
Health.
